About FixItCalc
Our Mission
FixItCalc was built to make home improvement math simple. Whether you're a DIY homeowner, a contractor, or a weekend warrior — our calculators give you fast, accurate estimates so you can buy the right materials the first time.
We believe every home project starts with a good plan. And every good plan starts with knowing how much you need.
How We Calculate
Our calculators use industry-standard formulas and real-world material specifications:
- Concrete: ASTM C94 standards for yield, standard bag counts (45 × 80lb bags per cubic yard)
- Paint: Coverage rates based on manufacturer specs (~350 sqft/gallon), standard deduction for doors (20 sqft) and windows (15 sqft)
- Flooring & Tile: Standard 10% waste factor, professional tile spacing, real box/package sizes
- Roof Pitch: Standard rise-over-run conversion using trig functions, pitch-to-angle mapping per NAHB guidelines
- Mulch & Gravel: Depth-to-volume conversion per landscaping industry best practices
Who We Serve
FixItCalc is trusted by thousands of homeowners, contractors, landscapers, and DIY enthusiasts every month. Our tools cover:
- Residential construction — concrete, framing, rebar, drywall
- Remodeling & renovation — bathroom costs, paint, flooring, tile
- Outdoor & landscaping — mulch, gravel, sod, fencing, decking
- Roofing & exterior — roof pitch, rafter length, siding
Our Methodology
Every calculator is built by researching professional construction standards, cross-referencing manufacturer specifications, and testing edge cases. We include conservative waste factors and round up where appropriate — because running out of materials mid-project costs more than having a few extra.
We regularly update our calculators based on user feedback, material price changes, and new construction standards.
Disclaimer
FixItCalc provides estimates, not guarantees. Actual material needs vary based on site conditions, installation methods, and material variations. Always consult a licensed contractor or structural engineer for critical decisions, and always order 5–10% extra materials for waste, cuts, and errors.
